London can be a gloomy place in the winter months, grey skies and even greyer moods. Thankfully we recently had the chance to film at Lumiere London, successfully banishing even the slightest hint of seasonal effectiveness disorder. The festival runs across 50 sites in the capital, showcasing a variety of artists and agency work through the medium of light.
We had the pleasure of shooting at one of the stand-out installations, ‘Impulse’ by Lateral Office and CS Design, a series of illuminated see-saws transforming the well-heeled shopping district of South Molton Street in Mayfair into a temporary neon playground. Using a mixture of illumination and sound-design, each see-saw kinetically responds to each individual user creating a personalised (and more importantly childishly-giddy) experience for anyone lucky enough to be wandering by.
We were shooting a promo for this particular work in collaboration with Wireframe, utilising the great low-light performance of our Sony A7Sii and capturing the dynamism and movement of the project with our favourite toy, the DJI Osmo. It was great to get involved in an event that has managed to temporarily brighten the bleakness of a January in the Capital.
